It is our pleasure to partner with our friends at Hunton Andrews Kurth to bring you the following video discussing tips for a successful summer, wherever you may be headed. Rudene Mercer Haynes is a partner in the firm's Richmond office on their securitization team, and is one of their firmwide hiring partners. Her top three tips for a successful summer are as follows:

1) Take advantage of the opportunity to get a sneak peek at what the firm's culture is really like. What is their mission statement? What are their values? Do they care about diversity? Use the summer to gather intelligence on these and any other issues that matter to you.

2) Be enthusiastic about the work that is assigned to you. This is where you can see the kinds of work you're likely to be doing if you accept a permanent offer here, but it is also a sort of extended interview for the firm to see how eager you are, how organized, how detail-oriented, etc.

3) Do your absolute best work. This should go without saying, but it's very important and worth emphasizing just the same.
